2Connect commences its 'LINX from Anywhere' service, designed to allow carriers direct access to the London Internet Exchange

MANAMA: As part of its continuing international growth strategy, 2Connect has announced the commencement of its 'LINX from Anywhere' service. This new service allows any carrier that requires connectivity to the London Internet Exchange, but doesn't have their own direct connectivity to London, to utilise 2Connect's dedicated international submarine bandwidth links which are pre-connected to the Exchange.

The London Internet Exchange (LINX) is one of the global leaders of Internet Exchange Points (IXP). As a result, carriers have access to the most attractive peers at the lowest cost. With close to 400 members connecting from over 50 different countries worldwide, LINX-connected carriers have access to direct routes from a large number of diverse international peering partners. Using LINX allows a reliable exchange of traffic with increased routing control and improved performance.

Rick Hillson, 2Connect's Senior Vice President for International Networks, commented that "by utilising 2Connect's 'LINX from Anywhere' service, carriers can help to lower their costs by peering at a major global exchange rather than utilising upstream IP transit providers which can potentially cost considerably more."
